PatriotMusic.com was officially started in 2005 by musician/songwriter Matt Fitzgibbons, though it's true beginnings were with his 2003 song "Well-Earned". With his two CDs ("Patriot", and "Patriot 2: A Celebration of Liberty"), he set out to rekindle America's passion for our Founding Principles with original, non-partisan music.

In 2005, our homepage said,
"I believe that the U.S. is more divided now than we have been since our Civil War because we have forgotten who we are as a Nation. My goal, through original music, is to help rekindle America's passion for our Constitutional principles, to inspire people to read and understand our Founding Documents for themselves, and to celebrate all the brave souls who have, and continue to support and defend our Constitution."

Both "Patriot" and "Patriot 2: A Celebration of Liberty" received excellent reviews, including ASCAPlus Awards in both 2008 & 2009. Through interviews around the country, the message started to take hold. Since then, we've had hundreds of thousands of visitors and we've seen a resurgence in interest in our Founding Principles. But there's a problem.

"I did an interview in a New York radio station after releasing "Patriot" in 2005. The interviewer was also the program director and he said he loved the music and really believed in what I was doing. When I was about to leave, I asked him how many DJs he had so I could give him enough CDs. He said, "Just leave one. Unfortunately none of the DJs here will play it". I asked him why and he said, "because there's an American flag on the cover and they'll think it's Republican. And they HATE Republicans".

It's not about red versus blue. Our problems were caused by every political party, but more importantly, by us because we've played right into their hands and forgotten the tools we have to fix it. Individual liberty is not partisan and supporting ALL of the Bill of Rights is not radical. Standing against ANY of them is. PatriotMusic.com's purpose is to spread positive, creative ways to take back your rights.
